abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between the psychological, social, and media dimensions of Arab police officers and their impact on enhancing job performance, self-confidence, and public trust in the police force. To achieve this, a descriptive, correlational, and comparative methodology was employed, utilizing a battery of standardized psychometric scales and questionnaires. The stratified random sample comprised 850 respondents, divided into 350 police officers to measure psychological and organizational variables, and 500 community members to evaluate public trust and police media image. The findings revealed that police officers experience high levels of occupational stress, with operational hazards and direct risks ranking highest, followed by organizational stressors. The results also demonstrated a statistically significant strong inverse correlation between social/psychological support and overall occupational stress, with family support emerging as the primary buffer against operational strain. Regression analysis indicated that the police media image accounts for 43.5% of the variance in officers’ performance efficiency and self-confidence. Furthermore, officers’ personal and social competencies, alongside emotional intelligence, explained 51.2% of the variance in public trust toward the police organization. Based on these findings, the study recommends integrating specialized emotional intelligence and emotional regulation training into police curricula, expanding institutional psychological support units within police structures, and adopting proactive, transparent security communication strategies to safeguard officers’ mental well-being and operational resilience
